A colleague once told me

By: Christian Banach

A colleague once told me, “You’re the Wizard of Oz, Christian. Mysteriously leading from behind a curtain.”

See when I owned my concert promotions business, I produced massive events.

Grammy award-winning artists like Lady Gaga, T-Pain, and Pitbull performed.

Yet I walked through the crowds, and few knew I was the mastermind.

I never grabbed the mic to hype the audience or featured myself in ads.

I rarely bothered to get a photo with artists or celebs.

I was busy overseeing event operations.

At the time, that’s where I saw my importance.

But that was short-term thinking.

In a people-based business, we were faceless, which held us back from forming a community.

It meant missed business opportunities because I wasn’t out there networking.

When I started this consultancy, I wrestled with a personal or corporate brand.

With my lesson learned, I went with my personal brand.

Within months, I have the name recognition that took years to build as a corporate brand.

I’m experiencing better engagement, relatability, and trust.

And best, prospective clients are finding me.

Agencies struggle with differentiation.

Are you treating yourself as a brand, or are you hiding behind the curtain?

How might your brand help increase visibility, stand out and win more business?
