Monday Motivation

Dreams do come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

In the 80s, I staged the Olympic games in my bedroom. I was a kid with big dreams. It was the start of a lifelong passion.

Growing up, I was captivated by the Olympics.

Nations coming together to compete in a wide variety of events was fascinating.

It was the 80s.

Tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union intensified the drama of the Olympics even more.

I was so inspired that I created my own Olympics at home.

I created characters from different countries.

Each character would compete in various events through my video and computer games.

I’d play out entire Olympic scenarios.

Brackets.

Scores.

Medals.

Even open and closing ceremonies (yes, I recognize this sounds nerdy).

But the Olympics were more than just a sporting event for me.

They were a source of imagination and inspiration.

Fast forward to today.

The Olympics still inspire me.

What moves me now is seeing athletes who have dedicated their entire lives to one moment.

They’ve worked incredibly hard, often starting as young kids with dreams.

And then, under the pressure of the world’s stage, they perform.

Often at their very best, to achieve what they’ve been striving for their whole lives.

Unfortunately, as we get older, many of us stop dreaming.

We get caught up in responsibilities.

We follow the paths society sets for us.

We lose confidence in our ability to achieve big dreams.

But it’s never too late to dream.

Start your own business.

Get in peak physical shape.

Make a positive impact.

Reach a professional milestone.

Create a lasting legacy.

Having a goal to work towards brings excitement and purpose to life.

As the latest Olympics close, I encourage you to dream like a kid again.

Set goals.

Work towards them.

You, too, can find yourself standing on life’s podium, achieving something extraordinary.

Dreams do come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
