Every January, I go through a ritual of decluttering

By: Christian Banach

Every January, I go through a ritual of decluttering.

I clean, organize, and donate/discard what no longer adds value.

The decluttering is both physical and digital.

Physical includes drawers, closets, and cabinets.

Digital includes email inboxes, hard drives, and computer desktops.

Oddly, I enjoy this.

The result is less stress and anxiety.

Things seem “new” again, which adds a sense of excitement.

I feel a greater sense of control.

As my company enters its second year, I’m also decluttering the business.

What roles or responsibilities can I revise to improve efficiency?

What processes need to be eliminated or modified?

What tech tools will lead to greater client value and employee satisfaction?

As in my personal life, the result is a feeling of confidence, energy, and motivation.

What can you declutter in your personal or professional life?

To get what you want, get rid of what you don’t.

To Get What You Want Get Rid Of What You Don't
