Getting fired by a client sucks

By: Christian Banach

Getting fired by a client sucks. ?

But it’s good for us! ?

Yes, losing a client bruises our ego.

Causes fear. ?

Panic.

Confusion.

And anger. ?

We’ve all experienced it.

Sometimes the departure is no fault of our own.

Other times it’s on us.

Although this hurts revenue, losing a client is often good. ?

Yes, good.

If the exit was because of your firm, it’s an opportunity to learn.

Get feedback from the client. ?‍?

Use it to improve your offerings, processes, and service.

Apply these learnings to retain your other clients better.

If the exit was not the fault of your firm, it’s an opportunity to learn as well.

Often the client wasn’t a fit (and you probably felt it at the outset). ?

Use this to inform whom you prospect and pitch in the future.

Poor fit clients drain your team.

See this as an opportunity to re-energize. ⚡

The truth is the fault is rarely, if ever, unilateral.

Whatever the case, accept it with grace.

No one keeps all of their clients forever. ♾️

But whether or not you feel at fault, learn from it.

And apply it.

We grow most not from victories but setbacks. ?

We Grow Most Not From Victories But Setbacks
