Remote work is the future of work.
The benefits are significant.
Cost savings.
Access to a broader talent pool.
Flexibility and employee satisfaction.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that I am a remote work supporter.
After all, I run a fully remote consulting firm.
We have team members from all over the world.
Until recently, I’d only met 1 team member in person.
But it was time for strategic planning for next year.
I decided to bring senior leadership together in person in Atlanta.
On this trip, I met two remote team members face-to-face for the first time.
We sat around a kitchen table in an Airbnb for 2 days (along with a fabulous team dinner).
We dove deep into planning our growth strategy.
To my surprise, unexpected magic happened.
There was a power in being physically present.
Engagement and focus were higher.
Brainstorming sessions were more dynamic.
Lasting bonds and connections were fostered.
The result?
We unlocked new insights.
Each of us walked away invigorated.
Days later, the revelation was further solidified.
Despite hearing about “Hamilton” for years, I was never inspired to see it.
But to my surprise, the live production was electrifying.
The actor’s emotion.
The audience’s reaction.
The experience cemented my belief.
There’s irreplaceable magic in shared, live experiences.
The lesson here is simple.
In a world racing towards digital, there’s still immense power in physical togetherness.
It’s a strength, a connection, an energy that can’t be replicated virtually.
The future of work is remote.
But it’s not all or nothing.
How do we reintegrate the magic of in-person interactions?
Prospects.
Clients.
Key hires.
Team meetings.
It’s different when it’s live.
