Why does Batman risk his life to fight crime and save strangers?
As the story goes…
Bruce Wayne (Batman’s alter ego) has wealth and good looks.
But when Bruce was a boy, a robber shot his father and mother.
Bruce vows to avenge their deaths and make sure nobody else suffers that pain and loss.
The movie got me thinking about what motivates me.
Why take on the risk of starting a business when I had a high-paying stable job?
Why endure extra long hours, client demands, employee issues, and competitors?
Unlike Batman, both of my parents are still with me.
However, growing up, I was introverted.
It was hard to make friends.
I never felt like I fit in.
But I was naturally good at school and sports.
Because of that, I got noticed.
Despite my shyness, classmates and teammates came to me.
I strived to be even better, believing it would attract more friends.
Over time, I came out of my shell.
Success in school and sports turned into success in business.
I still consider myself an introvert.
But now, I am more comfortable with who I am.
I know I have remarkable talents others lack.
It’s ok to be different.
I used to hate not fitting in until I realized I was born to stand out.
